Members of Bethel Congregational Church take seriously the role of Christ and Christianity as advocates of peace and social justice. As a church, we regularly seek out activities which promote peace and justice within our local, regional, national, and global communities. In April 2003, we began our series of Just Peace Sundays to prayerfully consider our ongoing commitments to issues of justice and peace. We have held study groups on Biblical Perspectives on War and Peace and co-sponsored a series of talks on the role of faith in dealing with issues of Climate Change with Riverside Community Church.

Our church actively supports local efforts at ensuring the safe, fair, and peaceful lives of our neighbors, through support of programs such as Mid-Columbia Habitat for Humanity, and the White Salmon Youth Center.

Values which we can practice locally and which support the greater global advancement of peace and justice issues are supporting free trade through our annual Alternative Christmas Fair, and through seeking environmentally responsible life choices, including printing our monthly newsletter on 100% recycled paper.

Our Just Peace Committee meets monthly following Sunday service to remain involved and active in these issues.
